Sen. Dave Schatz’s Legislative Column for Dec. 19, 2019

Wishing You and Your Family a Merry Christmas

Snow is falling, lights are up, trees are decorated, presents are (almost) wrapped and schedules are packed with festivities—it’s obvious Christmas has arrived. For myself and many Missourians, this means a time to celebrate God’s greatest gift to us: the birth of His son, Jesus Christ. We all face setbacks and carry burdens in this life—but we have hope because Jesus has come, bearing unconditional love and forgiveness, to intercede on our behalf. The carol “O’ Holy Night” beautifully sums up this message:

…O holy night the stars are brightly shining

It is the night of our dear Savior’s birth

Long lay the world in sin and error pining

Till He appeared and the soul felt its worth

A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices

For yonder breaks a new glorious morn…

As I look back on 2019, I’m incredibly proud of all that we’ve accomplished together:

  • Record resources for our public schools;
  • Hundreds of millions in funding to replace failing bridges;
  • Expedited infrastructure improvements;
  • Thousands of new jobs and apprenticeships; and
  • Billions in new private investment across Missouri.

This Christmas, I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve each and every one of you as your state senator and as the president pro tem of the Missouri Senate. I pray that God will continue to rain down blessings upon you and your families, our communities and our great state in the coming year.

Merry Christmas!
