Senator Crawford’s Capitol Report, for the Week of April 16

Crawford---CapReport

As we begin the last four weeks of session, I want to provide a recap of what we have accomplished since session began in January. The Missouri Senate has passed and sent 109 bills to the House for their consideration, while the House has sent 230 bills to the Senate. As of today, 10 bills have been passed by both bodies and will make their way to the governor’s desk for his consideration. Two of the 10 bills have already been signed by the governor and will become law.

  • SB 573 (Senator Wallingford) includes many provisions relating to veterans.
  • SB 592 (Senator Hegeman) modifies the law concerning elections.
  • SB 623 (Senator Crawford) clarifies the law concerning tax sale foreclosure proceeds.
  • HB 1246 requires certain locations to post information regarding human trafficking.
  • HB 1465 modifies provision relating to degree offerings at public institutions of higher education.
  • HB 1504 allows certain counties to pass ordinances regulating land surrounding National Guard training centers.
  • HB 1531 modifies the law concerning insurance coverage payouts. This bill also includes the language of one of my bills that caps fees the attorney general’s office can pay to outside counsel.
  • HB 1665 authorizes the granting of a visiting scholars certificate to teach in public schools.
  • HB 1838 authorizes the conveyance of certain state properties.
  • HB 2014 appropriates money for supplemental purposes for several departments and offices of state government.

I expect that most of the debate in the Senate this week will be centered around the state’s budget, which must be passed by May 11.

Due to the number of visitors we receive from the district each week, I encourage you to call my office ahead of your visit to schedule an appointment.
