Statement from Senator Gina Walsh on Her Absence from the Senate

JEFFERSON CITY — Senator Gina Walsh, D-Bellefontaine Neighbors, issued the following statement relating to her absence from the Missouri Senate on Tuesday and Wednesday.

“Today, the Missouri Senate passed a supplemental budget bill to appropriate funds from a multi-billion dollar relief package from the federal government to help Missourians combat the significant challenges they face regarding the COVID-19 virus. This aid will assist Missouri workers, small businesses, the health care industry and vulnerable citizens during this unprecedented pandemic. I fully support this measure. Unfortunately, I was unable to travel to Jefferson City to formally vote in support of the supplemental budget bill because I am self-quarantined after a possible exposure to the virus, and I did not want to put my colleagues, staff or others at risk.

In addition, I strongly encourage all Missourians to continue to follow the guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, state and local authorities. By staying home, we will slow the spread of the virus and, most importantly, save lives. It will take everyone working together to overcome this challenge.”
