Statement from Sen. Bill Eigel on the Missouri Supreme Court’s Decision Regarding Funding for Planned Parenthood

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Bill Eigel, R-Weldon Spring, issued the following statement denouncing the Missouri Supreme Court’s decision regarding funding for Planned Parenthood. In addition, he is calling for a constitutional amendment to ban taxpayer funding for abortion providers like Planned Parenthood:

“I wholeheartedly condemn the Missouri Supreme Court’s decision to require the state to fund Planned Parenthood. Our tax dollars should never fund or subsidize abortion. During the next legislative session, I will file a constitutional amendment to reverse this unconscionable funding decision to ensure Planned Parenthood never again receives a dime in taxpayer funding.”

If the proposed constitutional amendment passes the full General Assembly, it will then be placed on a statewide ballot for the citizens of Missouri to vote and decide.
