Sen. Tony Luetkemeyer Reviews Bridge Needs with Governor on MoDOT Tour

JEFFERSON CITY —State Sen. Tony Luetkemeyer, R-Parkville, traveled with Gov. Mike Parson and Missouri Department of Transportation Director Patrick McKenna to Platte County to examine a distressed bridge along Interstate 29, and highlight a plan to repair or replace 250 deficient bridges in Missouri.

“It was great to travel with the governor to see firsthand the dire need for infrastructure investment in Missouri,” Sen. Luetkemeyer said. “The governor’s plan addresses the need for highway and bridge maintenance while not raising taxes. It is critical that Missouri continues to maintain and improve its roads and bridges.”

The bridge the senator and governor examined, at I-29 and Waukomis Drive, is one of four scheduled for replacement or repair in Platte County. The governor has proposed $351 million in bonding to prioritize work on 250 bridges throughout the state. Financing these bridge repairs through bonds will allow money in the state road fund to be devoted to other scheduled projects in Missouri’s five-year construction plan.
