Sen. Eric Burlison’s Legislation Signed Into Law By the Governor

JEFFERSON CITY – On Wednesday, July 10, the governor signed several pieces of legislation into law, including Senate Bill 54 and House Bill 1088. Senator Eric Burlison, R-Battlefield, sponsored Senate Bill 347 and Senate Bill 328, which were added to SB 54 and HB 1088 respectively.

Senate Bill 347 relates to insurance holding companies and aims to reduce government regulations that are duplicative and unnecessary. Senate Bill 328 modifies provisions relating to emergency rules and no longer requires the secretary of state to publish the Missouri Register or the Code of State Regulations in written format, which helps eliminate millions of printed materials. Under this law, the state must also notify impacted businesses before imposing any new emergency rules.

“I am thrilled SB 54 and HB 1008 were signed by the governor,” Sen. Burlison said. “They are both excellent pieces of legislation, and I know they will help improve the lives of all Missourians.”

Senate Bill 54 and HB 1088 will go into effect Aug. 28, 2019.
