Sen. Denny Hoskins to Chair Small Business and Industry Committee

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Denny Hoskins, R-Warrensburg, will chair the Missouri Senate Committee on Small Business and Industry for the 100th General Assembly. The appointment was among committee assignments announced by Senate leadership on Wednesday, Jan. 16.

“I am pleased that the president pro tem has asked me to chair this vital committee,” Sen. Hoskins said. “The vast majority of Missourians working in the private sector are employed by small businesses and industries. These enterprises are the heart and soul of Missouri’s economy, and I look forward to doing whatever I can to help them grow and prosper.”

The Small Business and Industry Committee considers bills relating to the ownership and operation of small businesses and also handles legislation dealing with labor management, fair employment standards, workers’ compensation, employment security and industrial development.

Sen. Hoskins has also been named vice chairman of the Committee on Agriculture, Food Production and Outdoor Resources. In addition, he is assigned to committees on Appropriations, Economic Development, Insurance and Banking and Veterans and Military Affairs. The senator represents the 21st Senatorial District, which includes Caldwell, Carroll, Howard, Johnson, Lafayette, Livingston, Ray and Saline counties.
