Sen. Bill Eigel to Celebrate Direct Support Professional Recognition Week

JEFFERSON CITY — The Missouri Department of Mental Health will honor all direct support professionals working in our state during Direct Support Professional Recognition Week, beginning Sept. 8. State Sen. Bill Eigel, R-Weldon Spring, would like to show his appreciation for the direct support professionals serving individuals in the state and in the 23rd Senatorial District.

St. Charles Habilitation Center employs 140 direct support professionals who serve their patients in a variety of ways. They provide health care assistance, implement behavior supports, promote community inclusion and advocate for needed services for their patients. Direct support professionals assist their patients with everyday activities to provide them with the skills they need to live their lives with dignity and respect.

“Direct support professionals play an important role in the lives of countless Missourians with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” Sen. Eigel said. “Their excellent and compassionate care provides necessary assistance and services so these individuals can live their lives to the fullest potential. I want to thank all direct service professionals in our state for their incredible work and dedication to their patients.”

Direct Support Professional Recognition Week will be held Sept. 8-15.
