Sen. Crawford’s Capitol Report, for the Week of March 11

This has been a busy two and half months, with a lot more work to accomplish between now and May 17. So far, Missouri senators have sent 28 bills and seven resolutions to the Missouri House of Representatives. Some of them include:

  • Senate Bill 7 – Modifies provisions of civil procedure regarding joinder and venue;
  • Senate Bill 17 – Exempts any person retired and receiving a retirement allowance from the Public Schools Retirement System and employed by a public community college from current law relating to retirement allowance restrictions;
  • Senate Bill 28 – Places a cap on the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit;
  • Senate Bill 30 – Allows evidence of failure to wear a seatbelt to prove comparative negligence or to mitigate damages;
  • Senate Bill 36 – Modifies provisions relating to immunity for real estate licensees;
  • Senate Bill 53 – Modifies the duties of county officials;
  • Senate Bill 89 – Enacts provisions relating to licenses to operate motor vehicles;
  • Senate Bill 167 – Modifies provisions relating to bonding requirements on public works;
  • Senate Bill 196 – Authorizes the Missouri Department of Natural Resources to award grants to preserve, protect or restore historic county courthouses; and
  • Senate Bill 230 – Modifies provisions relating to venue in guardianship and conservatorship proceedings.

As next week is the beginning of legislative break, I will be back in the district working and meeting with constituents. When the Missouri General Assembly returns to Jefferson City, we will have eight weeks to finish our legislative business, including passing the budget for Missouri’s next fiscal year.
