Statement from Sen. Jay Wasson Regarding the Situation Surrounding Missouri’s Governor

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Jay Wasson, R-Nixa, has issued the following statement relating to the governor:

“So much has happened since session began in January that has given me time to reflect on the best path forward. Due to the testimony released by the Missouri House Special Investigative Committee on Oversight and the information announced this week by the attorney general, I no longer believe the governor is capable of leading Missouri forward. It has become apparent these allegations are more than just distractions. These issues have taken focus away from what is important, and these distractions have made it difficult for us to do the work that is in the best interest of our constituents. I hope the governor fully understands the repercussions of his actions and chooses to do what is right by resigning from office.”
