Training Missouri’s Workforce

Training our employees, and offering the tools for workers to advance in their careers, is one of the greatest ways of supporting economic growth and development in the state of Missouri. In fact, having a well-trained workforce is a top priority for companies across the state right now. Vital programs authorized by the Missouri General Assembly are helping us achieve the goal of a better educated workforce. This legislative session, I’m supporting efforts to renew those programs for years to come.

For the past few years, the Missouri Works Program and the Missouri Works Training Program have helped regular folks learn the skills they need to succeed in a modern work environment. This helps employees, but it also helps their employers, too. By providing training for the state workforce, we ensure our populace has an educated and effective bench of desirable employees. This strengthens our economy and helps us compete with neighboring states.

These two works programs were set to expire after a certain period of time, but, because they worked so well for us in the past, a group of my Senate colleagues and I want to renew them for several more years. Doing so will help working families secure better, more reliable jobs with higher pay. As a state senator entrusted with providing for the welfare of the people of Missouri, I see no better way to do my duty than by ensuring those seeking honest work have the opportunity and the ability to find it. I’ve always been a supporter of Missouri businesses, because I know that when our economy is healthy, everyone benefits. As a statewide community, we’re in this together.
