Senator Crawford’s Capitol Report, for the Week of Feb. 12

Crawford---CapReport

My first month in the Missouri Senate has been an exciting and interesting experience. I am learning the Senate’s policies and procedures and how the chamber differs from the House. The work of the Senate is an extensive and lengthy process, but the process is intended to promote healthy discussion and debate on issues affecting all Missourians.

It was exciting for me to see my first bill pass out of the Senate this week. Tuesday, we perfected Senate Bill 623, which would modify provisions relating to surplus funds from tax sale foreclosure proceeds. Perfection is a first-round vote. It was then given final Missouri Senate approval on Thursday, and moves to the Missouri House of Representatives for similar consideration.

I also presented Senate Bill 917 to the Missouri Senate Commerce, Consumer Protection, Energy and the Environment Committee. My proposal seeks to modify provisions relating to coal ash.

I am honored to serve as your Senator in the Missouri Senate. If, at any time, you have questions, concerns or ideas regarding state government, please feel free to contact me at (573) 751-8793 or Sandy.Crawford@senate.mo.gov.
