Senator Caleb Rowden Announces New Chief of Staff

JEFFERSON CITY, MO –  Sen. Caleb Rowden, R-Columbia, announced today the promotion of Alex Zumsteg, who currently serves as support staff for the 19th Senatorial District, to Chief of Staff. She will replace current chief of staff Stuart Murray as he takes on a new role.

“Alex has a proven track record of being a dedicated, hard worker, and she brings with her knowledge of the district and the appropriations process,” said Rowden. “Alex is fully capable and ready to take over the duties of chief of staff, and I am proud to recognize her hard work by promoting her.”

Zumsteg is a four year veteran staff member in the Missouri Legislature. She began her career working with the House Republican Campaign Committee, then with the Speaker of the House and finally with the Missouri Republican Party, before transitioning to the Senate. This is her third year working for the 19th Senatorial District, first as chief of staff to former Sen. Kurt Schaefer, who served as appropriations chair, and now Sen. Caleb Rowden.

“I’m excited for this new challenge, and I plan to bring my extensive knowledge of the budget process to the office,” said Zumsteg. “Since joining the appropriations committee in January, Sen. Rowden has played a major part in crafting the $28 billion budget. My goal is to help and advise him as the committee works through the budget, which is the Legislature’s only constitutional requirement, as well as offer support throughout the legislative session.”

Zumsteg will begin her duties in her new position effective immediately.
