Missouri Senate Academic Attendance Award

I felt it was important to recognize those students who put school first and made every effort to have regular attendance so I implemented the Missouri Senate Academic Attendance Award.

To receive the Missouri Senate Academic Attendance Award (to be distributed to all eligible students K-12), the students must reach or surpass the 97 percent attendance rate at their school.

In its first year (2011-2012 school year) there were over 2700 hundred students recognized from the following school districts:

  • Canton R-V
  • Community R-VI
  • Kirksville R-III
  • Lewis Co C-1
  • Madison C-3
  • Mexico 59
  • Monroe City R-I
  • Paris R-II
  • Pike R-III
  • Putnam Co R-I
  • Schuyler Co R-I
  • Scotland Co R-I

As participation by schools is voluntary, please encourage your schools to participate and your student to strive for the achievement. I truly believe a good pattern of attendance, is an example of perseverance and that is a skill which will carry a person far in life.
