First Session of the 99th General Assembly Begins

Earlier this week the First Session of the 99th General Assembly began with the swearing in of five new Missouri Senators and 12 returning Senators. I am confident this will be a productive session that will benefit Missourians not only in the 10th Senatorial District, but from across the state.

During the opening day of session Senate officers are elected, new Senators are sworn in, and introduction of legislation begins. At the conclusion of the first week, committee assignments were also announced. For the 2017 legislative session I will be serving as the chair of the Committee on Professional Registration; vice-chair of the Committee on Seniors, Families and Children; and as a member of the Committee on Commerce, Consumer Protection, Energy and the Environment, the Committee on Fiscal Oversight, the Committee on Gubernatorial Appointments and the Committee on Administration.

In addition to serving on my assigned Senate committees, I have also been selected to chair two Joint Committees that have both Senate and House membership: the Joint Committee on Child Abuse and Neglect and the Joint Committee on Capitol Security.

It is an honor to be your State Senator and my door is always open to your concerns, questions or comments. Please feel free to contact me at (573) 751-2757 or visit my web page at www.senate.mo.gov/riddle.
