Jefferson City, Mo. – On Wednesday, April 5, hundreds of firefighters from across the state gathered at the Missouri State Capitol for an annual day to honor their hard work, bravery and dedication to the safety of citizens across the state.

Firefighters were honored in a ceremony where the governor spoke of their commitment to a life of service and sacrifice.

Fire engines and other symbols of the firefighting profession were on display for guests and visitors to get a first-hand look at the tools used by many of the state’s first responders.

Missouri’s fire service includes more than 24,000 career and volunteer first responders working across more than 850 departments.
