JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Ed Emery, R-Lamar, is encouraging residents of the 31st District to attend Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler’s upcoming Veterans Resource Fair, which will take place on Saturday, June 18, 2016, from 9 a.m. to noon at Hickman High School in Columbia, Missouri. The purpose of the fair is to bring together veterans, active duty and military family members with agencies, groups and organizations that provide military and veterans’ assistance.

“The Veterans Resource Fair is a wonderful opportunity for our current and former service members and their families to connect with their community and learn about the myriad resources available to help them navigate the challenges of service, the VA, continuing their education or moving into a new career,” Sen. Emery said. “This great event is free and open to the public, and I encourage anyone who may benefit from it to attend.”

Representatives from the VA will be on hand to talk about benefits and health care resources and assist veterans with their needs. The event will be keynoted by U.S. Marine Corp Veteran Mr. Terry Roberts. Mr. Roberts works for Veterans United Home Loans and is a board member of Welcome Home: a shelter and transitional living program for homeless Veterans.
