Majority Caucus Appoints Two Members to
New Positions

Two New Deputy Whips Will Help Assist Caucus Whip

JEFFERSON CITY — Majority Caucus Whip, Sen. Brian Munzlinger, R-Williamstown, has added two deputy whips to his team for the upcoming session. The Senator has chosen Sen. Ed Emery, R-Lamar, and Sen. Gary Romine, R-Farmington, to help him with the whip duties.

“An expanded whip team can help better meet the needs of the caucus through increased communication,” said Munzlinger. “They will also help make sure we are represented when quorum calls are made during filibusters, and they can help raise issues important to certain regions and interest groups.”

The duties of the deputy whip will include, acting as regional whips, assisting the whip to ensure member attendance when important votes are taken, and helping communicate the majority position.

“I look forward to serving in this role and being of service to my colleagues,” said Sen. Emery. “As legislators, we have an important duty to the people of our state, and I hope this position will allow me to better educate our caucus about the issues that matter to citizens in Missouri.

“I am privileged to have been chosen, and I’m excited to join the whip team,” said Sen. Romine. “I hope to help communicate our agenda to our members, and I’m optimistic this process will run smoothly and ensure that we pass meaningful legislation.”

“I am excited to see the whip team take on more responsibility, and I know they will perform their duties with respect and integrity,” said Senate Leader Ron Richard, R-Joplin.

The Second Regular Session of the 98th General Assembly will commence Jan. 6, 2016.
