Current Bill Summary

SB 1034 - This act allows the release of birth and death records after a certain length of time. Section 193.245, RSMo, currently prohibits the release of birth and death records, except in certain situations as listed in the section. New language adds a provision for the release of birth and death records that are at least seventy-two years old, based on the date of request. In addition, microfilms of such birth and death records should be released, along with record indexes, to the State Archives. Requests will be subject to fees equivalent to the cost of copying the records.
