Senator Denny Hoskins Announces Economic Development Dollars

JEFFERSON CITY — State Sen. Denny Hoskins, R-Warrensburg, says a major amount of money is coming to one of our state’s largest educational institutions, thanks to the recent signing of the latest state operating budget.

“Despite the fact both Johnson County and the University of Central Missouri are no longer in the 21st Senatorial District, I still live in Warrensburg and fought hard to get this funding into the budget for Fiscal Year 2024,” Sen. Hoskins said. “I am glad the governor focused on items to promote significant economic growth in Johnson County and west-central Missouri. These infrastructure investments should encourage future economic growth and jobs for many years to come.”

The funding is contained in House Bill 19, which allocates $5 million toward development of Brady Commerce Park, Phase 2, and will enhance the area’s infrastructure to attract more businesses to Johnson County. Another portion of HB 19 designates $850,000 to establish self-service fuel facilities at the University of Central Missouri’s Skyhaven Airport. Officials there call this funding a vital step toward expanding aviation services and supporting the transportation needs of the region.

Senator Hoskins has served on the Missouri Senate Appropriations Committee since he became a state senator in 2017.
