Bill Summary
- Prepared by Senate Research -

HB 853 - This act changes the number and composition of the planning commissions of municipalities. Current law requires that the mayor, a member of the city council and at the option of the council, the city engineer, serve as members of the commission. This act deletes the engineer as a member, and makes service by the mayor and commission permissive.

Current law also sets citizen membership at not more than 12 nor less than 4. This act increases the maximum and minimum citizen appointees to not more than 15 nor less than 5 citizens.
