HB 0792 (Truly Agreed) Expands the investigative powers of the State Fire Marshal
Bill Summary
- Prepared by Senate Research -

SCS/HB 792 - This act designates the State Fire Marshal and the paid investigators of the Fire Marshal's office peace officers, if they are certified as such, with the power of arrest for all offenses incidental to their investigation. The power to arrest requires prior notification to the county sheriff or chief of police.

Current law requires only 240 hours of police training and limits the arrest power to fire related offenses only when they were investigating these offenses.

This act is identical to SCS/SB 396.
