SCS/HS/HCS/HBs 718, 225, 876 & 838 - This act allows taxpayers to deduct the amount paid for health insurance for the taxpayer, his or her spouse, and dependents if the taxpayer is self-employed and if the taxpayer is not eligible to participate in a health plan subsidized by the employer of the taxpayer or the taxpayer's spouse. The act also establishes the Advisory Commission on Health Insurance Mandates to be composed of the Director of the Department of Insurance, the Chairperson of the Insurance Committee of the House of Representatives, and the Chairperson of the Insurance and Housing Committee of the Senate. The Commission is charged with studying the costs and benefits of each health insurance benefit or offer mandated by Missouri law. The act requires the Commission to report by January 1, 2000, the results of its study to the Governor, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and the President Pro Tem of the Senate.
