HB 0407 Allows counties to vote on changing classification
Bill Summary
- Prepared by Senate Research -

HB 407 - This act expands the law on changing county classifications. It adds the option that counties changing classification may submit the question of changing to the voters. If a vote is put forth by the county commission and then is defeated, the county would not change classification. Current law would change classifications automatically, without a vote.

The bill also adds a population condition, such that if a county obtains 75,000 (100,000 if second classification) the voting requirement is waived.

This act is the same as SB 304.
