CCS/SCS/HB 248 - This act creates the crimes of killing or disabling a police animal and assault of a police animal. A person commits the Class D felony of knowingly killing or disabling a police animal to the extent it can no longer be utilized as a police animal when it was involved in law enforcement duties. A person commits the Class C misdemeanor of assault on a police animal when the person knowingly attempts to kill or cause serious physical injury to an animal which is involved in law enforcement duties.
