SB 171 - This act bans contractual provisions that limit the ability of a health professional to reveal violations of law or rule or revealing mismanagement to a public agency. There is a rebuttable presumption that the defendant committed the violation/mismanagement and a court may award the winning plaintiff up to twice the actual damages and attorney fees. Entities may not discipline a health care provider, including non-renewal of a contract, for disclosing information pursuant to this act.
