Current Bill Summary

SB 96 This act modifies the rodeo exception to the newly enacted animal baiting statutes found in Proposition A, approved by the voters in November, 1998. The proposition exempted from criminal penalty any rodeo practice currently sanctioned by the Professional Rodeo Cowboy's Association. This act exempts professional and amateur rodeo practices in general, thus vesting prosecutorial discretion in officials at the county level. A similar provision is contained in SCS/HB 79 (TAT).
