HB 1162 - This act establishes the Jim Sears Leadership Scholarship Program. Subject to appropriations, the program provides scholarships for the freshman year of college at Truman State University. The Board of Governors at Truman State shall administer the program and select scholarship recipients from among qualified high school seniors who have demonstrated a strong record of leadership or community service while in high school. To be eligible for the scholarship, a student shall meet the existing statutory requirements for the Missouri Student Grant Program, excluding the financial need requirement, and shall maintain status as a full-time student during the freshman year. If funds are provided by Truman State, the scholarships are renewable for up to six additional semesters for qualified recipients.
