SCS/HS/HCS/HBs 1051 & 1276 - This act increases the amount of maximum liability for the state or political subdivisions from one to two million dollars for a single accident or occurence. It increases the maximum liability for injury to individual persons from one to three hundred thousand dollars. Liability for any one person in a single accident is in addition to reasonable and necessary medical expenses up to a cap of $250,000.

Clarifies that the Missouri Risk Management Fund is available only to covered public entities.

The maximum amount paid out of the risk management fund is two million dollars.

The act provides for annual review of the limitation on awards based on an economic price index.

The provisions only apply to causes of action accruing after the effective date of the act.

Any claims under this section are subject to penalties as provided by Supreme Court Rule 55.03 (frivolous or improper pleadings, motions, and other papers).

This act extends liability limits to police officers outside of the officer's jurisdiction so long as the officer is authorized to act.

Removes sovereign immunity as a defense to attorney's liens.

This act has an emergency clause.

This act is similar to SCS/SB 618, 591 & 747.
