SCS/SB 381 - This act would require all health care professionals who provide obstetrical services to pregnant women to provide those women information regarding HIV infections and encourage these women to be tested for the HIV virus. This bill does not mandate that women be tested.

The act lists the information that the health care providers who provide obstetrical services to pregnant women should give their clients, types of counseling which should be provided if a positive test result is received and provides that reports on the number of women seen and the number of women testing positive for the HIV infection be sent to the Department of Health for informational purpose.
