Current Bill Summary

HCS/SB 900 - This act specifies that the additional $90 per month contribution, made by the retirement system for each retired, uniformed officer of the State Highway Patrol, until age 65, is compensation for becoming a special consultant. This contribution would be reduced by any amount earned by the retired officer in gainful employment.

To be eligible, the retired uniformed officer must have been hired by the Highway Patrol before 1/1/95; and be employed by the Highway Patrol, or receiving long-term or work-related disability benefits on the day before the effective date of retirement.

This act also makes changes to the Missouri State Employees' Retirement System (MOSERS) Board of Trustees. The two-year term limitation of the Board chairman is removed. This act also designates the Executive Director as the Executive Officer of MOSERS and requires all MOSERS employees to be chosen only upon the recommendation of the Executive Director. Currently, all employees are appointed by the Board of Trustees.

This act is identical to HB 1541 (1996).
