SB 245 - This act clarifies the procedure by which a candidate may withdraw his candidacy after filing for that office has closed. A candidate who has been nominated for another office by his party may withdraw his candidacy for the initial office within five days of such nomination. If a candidate withdraws, prior to the eleventh Tuesday before the primary, when he was the incumbent, the only candidate or there is only one other candidate, nominations for the office shall be reopened.

The party nominating committee shall nominate a new candidate if, after the eleventh Tuesday before the primary, a candidate withdraws, dies, or is disqualified and is the incumbent or there is only one other candidate.
