Current Bill Summary

SB 944 - Under this act, any department or agency of the state having any unexpended state funds at the end of the fiscal year may request the state treasurer to deposit such funds into the State Technology Modernization Fund established by this act. Any funds deposited into the fund will be reserved for the sole use of the department from which they came and may only be used for the purpose of making modernized technology purchases.

The act permits any department or agency to combine funds deposited into the State Technology Modernization Fund with those of another department or agency for the purpose of making modernized technology purchases that will be shared by such departments or agencies.

Any funds deposited into the State Technology Modernization Fund not expended within three years of deposit shall revert to the general revenue.

This act is substantially similar to HB 2103 (2018) and HCS/HB 2157 (2018).
