SS/SCS/SB 62 -Current law allows a health care provider to condition the furnishing of medical records on the payment of a fee to cover costs of copying, postage and notary services. This act provides that in instances where the requested records are stored at the health care provider's place of business the copying amount shall not exceed $21.36 plus 50 cents for supplies and labor per page. The copying amount shall be adjusted annually per the Consumer Price Index.

In instances where the records are not stored at the provider's place of business and the provider has contracted for off-site records storage and management, the maximum copying amount shall not exceed $41.36 plus 50 cents per page for supplies and labor. This copying amount shall also be adjusted annually per the Consumer Price Index.
