SB 1060 - This act allows a presiding judge in a circuit court to assign a judge to hear a trial in a felony case, even though that judge has previously conducted the preliminary hearing in that case. This act also makes it optional, rather than mandatory, that a case in the associate circuit court be certified for assignment by the presiding judge when a party files a petition, counterclaim, cross claim, or third-party petition that exceeds the jurisdiction of the associate circuit court or when consolidated cases would exceed the jurisdiction of the associate circuit court.
