SB 433 - Under current law, the Director of the Department of Natural Resources is required to develop minimum energy efficiency standards for two types of appliances and consumer electronics: those that have earned the federal Energy Star designation and those that have federally-required minimum energy efficiency standards. This act instead requires the director to establish the standards only for appliances and consumer electronics that do not have federally-required minimum standards. In cases where an appliance or consumer electronic is eligible for the Energy Star designation, the minimum standards set by the director shall not exceed the Energy Star requirements. ERIKA JAQUES
