SB 1023 – This act creates a procedure for recalling school board members. A recall election shall be held upon the submission of a petition signed by at least 25% of the number of voters who voted in the last school board election. If a majority of voters vote to retain the school board member at issue, the member shall remain in office and cannot be subject to another recall election during his or her term. If a majority of voters vote to remove the member, the successor member will be chosen in the same manner as vacancies are filled for any seven member district. This act is similar to SB 922 (2004), SB 112 (2005), SB 448 (2007). MICHAEL RUFF
