SB 828 – Current law provides that a public school district in any city not within a county shall determine whether a school uniform is appropriate at any school in the district. This act requires any school district classified as "unaccredited" or "provisionally accredited" by the state board of education to adopt a dress code policy requiring students to wear uniforms. Schools that meet certain criteria are not required to adopt a dress code policy but may do so if they choose. This act is similar to a provision contained in SB 690 (2007). MICHAEL RUFF
