Committee Purpose: The purpose of the committee shall be to study ways state government can improve programs and policies to benefit Missouri farmers and rural communities whose economies depend on agriculture. The committee shall receive recommendations from all major agriculture groups and the Governor's Task Force on Agriculture in an effort to formulate legislation to assist Missouri's farmers and ranchers. Specific topics to be examined by the committee shall include: the state's efforts to market Missouri products; proposals increasing the risk of flood on the Missouri River; increasing cooperation between state agencies on issues affecting agriculture; streamlining red tape to enhance economic developement opportunities; and the possible expansion and addition of value-added agriculture-related businesses.
