HB 1923 Revises National Guard Scholarship Program, creates tax holiday

HB 1923 - This act makes the following revisions to the National Guard Scholarship Program established pursuant to Section 173.239, RSMo:

1) Recipients may use the scholarship to attend all private institutions for which Advantage Missouri scholarship funds may be used, including religious institutions; and

2) Available federal Dept. of Defense scholarship funds must be used before state National Guard Scholarship funds may be used.

This act is the same as the perfected SB 961 (2000).

This act has an emergency clause.

SCA 1 - THIS AMENDMENT CREATES A "TAX HOLIDAY" FROM RETAIL SALES TAXES FOR ITEMS OF CLOTHING, IN AUGUST OF 2000, TO SUNSET THE FOLLOWING JULY. THE AMENDMENT CONTAINS AN EMERGENCY CLAUSE.
