HB 1698 Increases compensation for St. Louis City Police Officers

HCS/HB 1698 - This act will establish new salary schedules for St. Louis City Police Officers for the years July 1, 2000, to June 30, 2002.

The increases in salary are based on rank and length of service. The position of "turnkey" is abolished.

Additional compensation may be paid to officers above the rank of sergeant. However, funds for such payments cannot be paid from the general funds of the City of St. Louis or from the Board of Police Commissioners.

From July 1, 2000, through June 30, 2002, the Board of Police Commissioners may provide a salary increase for commissioned employees of 0 to 8 years of service. This amount cannot exceed three percent of the amount set out for the appropriate category in such tables.

The act has an emergency clause.
