SCS/SBs 818 & 564 - This act authorizes the Vocational Enterprises Program of the Department of Corrections to provide laundry or linen services only to any political subdivision of the state, department, agency or institution of the state and any state employee. Any contract for laundry or linen services in existence on August 28, 2000, will continue to exist.

This act also prohibits private companies or individuals from operating private jails or correctional facilities. It does not prohibit the state from contracting with private companies to provide facilities for specific programs, and exempts the Division of Youth Services from the provisions of Section 221.232 of this act.
