Current Bill Summary

SB 749 - This act requires a public vote for the adoption of a building code in first and second classification counties. Current law requires only a vote by the county commission. Revisions to an existing building code would also be subject to a public vote.

Voters in an incorporated area, would not vote on the county proposal, as it would not affect those areas under existing statutes.

This act is similar to SB 38 (1999).
