SCS/SBs 545, 628, 647, 728, 834 & 832 - This act allow motor vehicle owners to apply for various specialized license plates.

NATIVE AMERICAN LICENSE PLATE - Allows any Native American to receive a specialized license plate bearing the words "NATIVE AMERICAN" and the specific name of his/her tribe. The specialized plate will cost $15 plus regular registration fees. This part of the act is similar to SB 545 (2000).

WILSON'S CREEK BATTLEFIELD LICENSE PLATE - Allows individuals to get special license plates to help the Wilson's Creek National Battlefield Foundation. A $25 emblem use contribution would be made annually to the Foundation by any individual wanting the special plates. All other normal fees would apply, including the fee for personalized plates. This part of the act is similar to SB 628 (2000).

MYSTIC SHRINE LICENSE PLATE - Allows members of the Ancient Arabic Order, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine of North America to apply for a specialized license plate. Any person desiring a license plate bearing the emblem of the Shrine shall pay a $25 emblem use fee to the Shrine Temple and $15 in addition to regular registration fees to the Department of Revenue. This part of the act is similar to SB 728 and SB 834 (2000).

KOREAN WAR VETERAN LICENSE PLATE - This act allows owners of vehicles, other than owners of apportioned motor vehicles or commercial motor vehicles in excess of 18,000, to apply for Korean War Veteran license plates. Under the current law, only owners of passenger motor vehicles or owners of non-local property carrying commercial motor vehicles between 9001-12,000 pounds may apply for a Korean War Veteran license plate. This part of the act is similar to SB 832 (2000).

ARMED FORCES EXEMPTION - This act exempts retired members of the United States armed forces, Coast Guard or reserve, Merchant Marine, or Missouri National Guard from paying the additional fee for personalized license plates.

SA 1 TO SA 2 - ALLOWS ANY PERSON TO RECEIVE A "RESPECT LIFE" LICENSE PLATE AFTER CONTRIBUTING $25 TO THE MISSOURI ALTERNATIVES TO ABORTION SUPPORT FUND. THIS AMENDMENT REQUIRES THE DIRECTOR OF REVENUE TO ISSUE AND DISPLAY SAMPLES OF THE "RESPECT LIFE" LICENSE PLATES IN STATE REGISTRATION OFFICES. THE AMENDMENT ESTABLISHES THE MISSOURI ALTERNATIVES TO ABORTION SUPPORT FUND. THE FUND WILL CONSIST OF MONEYS APPROPRIATED TO IT BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AND FROM THE $25 CONTRIBUTIONS. THE PURPOSE OF THE FUND IS TO PROVIDE AND PROMOTE ALTERNATIVES TO ABORTION SERVICES BY PROVIDING GRANTS TO PRIVATE AGENCIES THAT ARE ESTABLISHED FOR THAT PURPOSE.
