Current Bill Summary

SB 1054 - This act requires the Secretary of State to survey records to identify those pertaining to the underground railroad in Missouri, to cooperate with other states to identify records in those states pertaining to the underground railroad in Missouri, and to gather information pertinent to African American history in Missouri.

The act also creates a nine-member Advisory Commission to assist in the above. Members must be knowledgeable in African American history and traditions. The members serve four-year terms and are reimbursed for actual and necessary expenses.
