Episodes for 2013

December 2013 – In the final episode of Missouri Legislative Update this year, we highlight the governor’s call for an extraordinary session to grow and expand the aerospace industry in Missouri. Also, we preview various Senate bills prefiled for the 2014 legislative session and a new agreement to cleanup the Old Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City. Plus, Missourinet’s Bob Priddy sits down with Rep. Caleb Rowden, R-Columbia, and Sen. Paul LeVota, D-Indpenedence, to discuss the recent special session and what’s next for the General Assembly.


November 2013 – In this episode of Missouri Legislative Update, we highlight several measures relating to veterans and the military. Also, we take a closer look at various committee meetings during the month of November. Plus, Missourinet’s Bob Priddy sits down with Sen. Gary Romine, R-Farmington, and Sen. Joseph Keaveny, D-St. Louis, to discuss Medicaid expansion and reform.


October 2013 – This episode of Missouri Legislative Update takes a closer look at various agriculture measures that have become law and various legislative committees which held their meetings at the State Capitol. Also, we highlight a Jefferson City resident’s ties to the famous Thomas Hart Benton mural, “A Social History of Missouri,” located in the House Lounge. Plus, Senate Communications Correspondent Dean Morgan talks with Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Glendale, about tax policy and reform.


September 2013 – This month, Missouri Legislative Update highlights the General Assembly’s annual veto session held in September. This year, lawmakers voted to override a record number of the governor’s vetoes. Four Senate bills and six House bills previously vetoed by the governor are now enacted into law.  Plus, Missourinet's Bob Priddy talks with Sen. David Pearce, R-Warrensburg, and Sen. Joseph Keaveny, D-St. Louis, about the Senate Interim Committee on Capital Improvement Assessment and Planning.


August 2013 – In this edition of Missouri Legislative Update we highlight several new laws passed by the General Assembly which took effect on Aug. 28, 2013. Plus, we preview the upcoming veto session to be held on Sept. 11, 2013, and a new web site designed to nominate suggestions for new inductees into the Hall of Famous Missourians. And Missourinet's Bob Priddy sits down with Rep. Kathryn Swan, R-Cape Girardeau, and Sen. Paul LeVota, D-Independence, to discuss new laws and other legislative issues.


July 2013 – This episode of Missouri Legislative Update highlights several Senate and House bills approved by the governor or allowed to go into effect. Also, the program features several interim committee meetings in Jefferson City and freshman lawmakers share their experience regarding their first legislative session. Plus, Missourinet's Bob Priddy sits down with Sen. Gary Romine, R-Farmington, and Sen. Joe Keaveny, D-St. Louis, to discuss the goals of the Senate Interim Committee on Medicaid Transformation and Reform.


June 2013 – This episode of Missouri Legislative Update features the final day of the 2013 legislative session with reaction from General Assembly leaders. A new interim committee is formed in the Senate to look at Medicaid transformation and reform. Plus, Missourinet's Bob Priddy interviews Sen. Mike Kehoe, R-Jefferson City, and Rep. John Rizzo, D-Kansas City, about the conclusion of the legislative session.


May 2013 – This month we highlight the General Assembly as it sends the state’s spending plan for Fiscal Year 2014 to the governor. The Senate and House approve several measures relating to firearms and agriculture. Plus, Missourinet's Bob Priddy sits down with House Budget Chairman Rep. Rick Stream, R-Kirkwood, and Senate Appropriations Committee member Sen. Scott Sifton, D-St. Louis, to discuss this year’s budget process.


April 2013 – In this edition of Missouri Legislative Update, the House of Representatives approves its version of the Fiscal Year 2014 state operating budget. We also highlight legislation dealing with rebuilding infrastructure after natural disasters, the issue protecting privacy and Second Amendment rights, and measures designed to spur economic development and reform welfare benefits in the state. Plus, Missourinet's Bob Priddy sits down with Senate Education Committee Chairman David Pearce, R-Warrensburg, and Joint Committee on Education member Rep. Genise Montecillo, D-St. Louis, to discuss current education-related issues and legislation.


March 2013 – This month, Missouri Legislative Update highlights measures the General Assembly sent to the governor’s desk dealing with tax credits and economic development. We also take a look at various bills moving through both chambers during the first half of the 2013 session. Plus, Missourinet's Bob Priddy sits down with Rep. Todd Richardson, R-Poplar Bluff, and Sen. Gina Walsh, D-Bellefontaine Neighbors.


February 2013 – In this edition of Missouri Legislative Update, House leaders discuss the governor’s 2013 State of the State Address. The Senate approves several pieces of legislation ranging from tax policy to gun safety training and education, and the House approves a measure dealing with voter identification. Also, we highlight the work of the Senate regarding bills dealing with K-12 and higher education in the state. Plus, Missourinet's Bob Priddy sits down with Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Glendale, and Rep. John Wright, D-Rocheport.


January 2013 – In the first episode of Missouri Legislative Update for 2013, the Senate and the House begin a new legislative session, committees in the Senate hear presentations on several bills, and the House approves a measure dealing with special elections. Plus, Missourinet's Bob Priddy sits down with Senate President Pro Tem Tom Dempsey, R-St. Charles, and Senate Minority Floor Leader Jolie Justus, D-Kansas City.
