Senator John Lamping, R-Ladue; Sen. Joseph Keaveny, D-St. Louis; and Rep. Kevin McManus, D-Kansas City, talk about legislation they hope will be brought up for debate when lawmakers return to Jefferson City for the First Regular Session of the 97th General Assembly.

September — Host Bob Priddy from Missourinet, along with two state senators, appear on the September edition of Capitol Dialogue to discuss their retirement from the Legislature and term limits. Senator Bill Stouffer, R-Napton, has served in the Missouri Senate for eight years; Sen. Timothy Green, D-Spanish Lake, is concluding 24 years in the Missouri General Assembly, eight of which were in the upper chamber. Both senators will retire this year due to term limits.

August — Host Bob Priddy from Missourinet, along with two state senators, appear on the August edition of Capitol Dialogue to discuss some of the new laws taking effect this year. Senator Bob Dixon, R-Springfield, and Sen. Joseph Keaveny, D-St. Louis, talk about legislation that received passage from the full Legislature and went on to be signed into law by the governor. Most laws took effect on Aug. 28, 2012.

Timothy Green, D-Spanish Lake; Rep. Ryan Silvey, R-Kansas City; and Rep. Sara Lampe, D-Springfield, talk about Missouri’s $24 billion operating budget for the upcoming fiscal year. The budget was passed on May 10, 2012, and FY 2013 will start on July 1, 2012.

Tim Meadows, D-Imperial, talk about transportation funding and the potential of toll roads — especially to fund the rebuilding of Interstate 70 through Missouri. Toll roads could be a part of a larger funding proposal, if reconstruction along I-70 become reality.
