New Home for the Vision Research Center, the Eye Foundation and the Department of Ophthalmology


In late June, officials gathered for the groundbreaking of the new Hospital Hill Outpatient Center at Truman Medical Centers. With this new center, Kansas City residents will have access to much-needed medical services that will benefit each citizen's overall health.

The $29 million outpatient center is part of the area's urban renewal. The 90,000-square-foot, four-level building will help bring both existing and new patients high-quality care, state-of-the-art facilities, and world-class physicians and medical providers.

The new center will consolidate outpatient medical and surgical services into one facility located on Hospital Hill, which will include services provided by Sabates Eye Centers, UMKC Vision Research Center, Eye Foundation of Kansas City.

Services include:
  • ambulatory surgical center;
  • diagnostic imaging center;
  • physical/speech and occupational therapy;
  • plastic surgery center and medi-spa;
  • oral and maxillofacial (affecting the jaws and face) surgery center;
  • orthopedic surgery;
  • urology;
  • podiatry;
  • gastroenterology;
  • ear, nose and throat; and
  • audiology.
