SB 980 - This act creates a State Highway Patrol Crime Laboratory Fund and allows the Highway Patrol to charge fees, determined by rule, for lab tests performed at the request of any person. Moneys collected from this fee shall be transferred into the fund. The Superintendent of the Highway Patrol may waive the fee upon written request stating that a person is unable to pay the fee and a determination of sufficient cause. Any fees remaining in the fund at the end of each biennium shall not be transferred into General Revenue.

This act shall become effective July 1, 1997.

This act is similar to SB 974.
