SB 531 - This act modifies Missouri Supreme Court Rule 8.07 regarding the application to take the bar examination. Currently, the Board of Bar Examiners may allow an applicant to sit for the bar examination if the applicant has not graduated from an ABA-approved law school if the applicant furnishes evidence that for at least five years the applicant has been engaged in the practice of law, or served as a lawyer in the military, or taught at an ABA-approved law school. This act repeals the five year requirement and provides that the applicant may sit for the bar examination if the applicant furnishes a certificate of good standing and a disciplinary statement from each state where the applicant is admitted to the bar. The act also permits a member of the General Assembly who has served at least eight years to sit for the bar examination. JIM ERTLE
